We are often asked to carry out paper repairs which may range from fairly minor tears, such as fine tissue repairs and closed tears to the leaf of a book in order to safeguard against future damage, to more substantial reconstruction involving broken text or badly torn leaves.
By way of an example of the range of repairs we undertake, the mid-17th Century plan of the Civil War fortifications in Oxford shown below required extensive cleaning, de-acidifying and repair to edge frays and tears on all four sides. (The repair paper was intentionally left untoned to highlight the restoration work.)
Please feel free to contact us about any aspect of our work. We shall be pleased to discuss any possible way in which we might be able to help you.
