A boxed set containing two volumes, as published 1). Book -Bindon door D de Braay – 95-80mm, 49p facsimile of the original with coloured hand drawn plates of bindery work in progress and tools, the earliest such known. 2). 170 x 110mm, A Short Instruction in the Binding of Books.  87p, Notes and printing of the text in Dutch and translation into English.  Both volumes with dark brown stiff paper covers lettered to the front.

A copy of the earliest known illustrated work on bookbinding dating from mid-18th century Holland.  Finely illustrated and reprinted in an edition ‘published in six hundred copies, a large part of which is not for sale’. Offered in fine condition with the box held within a cloth covered slip-case additional to the published work.
